Age of Gopal four years ago = 3x
present age of ram = x+4
present age of Gopal = 3x+4
age of ram four years later = x+4+4 = x+8
age of Gopal four years later = 3x+4+4= 3x+8
therefore... 3x+8= 2(x+8)
3x+8= 2x+ 16
3x-2x= 16-8
x=8
present age of ram= x+4= 8+4 = 12
present age of Gopal= 3x+4= 24+4= 28
