Step-by-step explanation:

four years ago the ratio is 2:3

Therefore let the ages of A and B be 2x and 3x

Therefore their present age will be 2x+4 and 3x+4 respectively

So after 4 years their age becomes 2x+8 and 3x+8 respectively

Therefore the ratio will of their ages will be 2x+8:3x+8 which is equal to 5:7

Therefore 2x+8/3x+8 = 5/7

Cross multiplying we get

7(2x+8)=5(3x+8)

=> 14x+56=15x=40

=>56-40 = 15x-14x

So x=6

Therefore the present age of A will be 2x+4 years

                                                               =12+4 years

                                                                = 18 years

Similarly the present age of B will be 3x+4 years

                                                           = 18+4 years

                                                           = 22 years
