hey!!
you can leave whole by multiplying denominator by whole and then add it to numerator.
like 5/4....

 2\frac{1}{2}  +  \frac{5}{8}  + 4 \frac{1}{4}  \\  \\  \\  = >  \frac{5}{2}  +  \frac{5}{8}  +  \frac{17}{4}  \\  \\  =>  \frac{20 + 5 + 34}{8}  \\  \\  \\  = >  \frac{59}{8}
