If a boy increases his speed of motion from 2m/sec to 4m/sec why his kinetic energy will increase to 4 times the initial kinetic energy. Please explain.urgent

kinetic energy is given by 0.5mv^2
when speed is 2
KE will be 0.5*m*4
when speed is 4
KE will be 0.5*m*16
thus 4 times
