Frederic Sorrieu was a French engraver, printmaker and draughtsman.  

Frederick Sorrieu was a French artist whose pictures became famous in the French nationalism movement. La République universelle démocratique et sociale, is the series of his four paintings, in which he expresses the imagination of the world full of "democratic and socialist republics".  

This composition was his most important. He prepared this series of four painting in 1848 and was the representations of men, nations and allegories. In these painting he visualized his dream of Democratic world.
