Fragmentation in plants:

  • Fragmentation is an important type of "Asexual reproduction" and also a type of vegetative reproduction in plants.
  • Not only in plants, but it is also observed in some of the microorganisms such as Planaria. In plants, it occurs in the shoot system of the plants.
  • The shoot of the plant in which the fragmentation occurs gets separated from the root system embedded in the soil and then develops or regenerates into a fully-grown plant.
