Animals that reproduce through fragmentation are also common. Sea stars are probably the most famous example. An entirely new individual can grow from a broken-off sea star arm. Annelid worms (think earthworms) can also create anew individual from fragmentation, as can corals in the sea.

Fragmentation is the process which is included under the asexual type of reproduction. It is not a type of sexual reproduction.

In this method, the main body or the parent's body gets divided into small pieces or fragments. After that, each fragment then arises into a new individual or ones.

Examples performing fragmentation includes : Spirogyra, some worms.
