1- it provides us knowledge about various happenings around the world.
2- many television shows can be a source of entertainment. 
3- tele -shopping channels bargain a great deal of offers. 
4- we can follow the latest trend by watching many fashion and modelling shows.
5- we can make our favorite dishes by watching cooking episodes.
Some of the demerits are:-
1- watching television for a long time can strain our eyes.
2- some of the shows promote indecency towards kids and children. 
3- we often compromise our sleeping hours to watch our favorite TV serials.
4- many of the youngsters get negatively inspired watching their favorite actors doing the same. 
5- too much TV watching may distract us.
