Freazer of a refrigerator is at the top. Explain

   Since 1940's and 1950's many refrigerators were manufactured that way. There are many models of refrigerators with freezer compartments on the top, in the middle, side by side, and at the bottom in comparison with the cooling compartments.

   The models of freezers being on the top have been manufactured more in number and they are popular. They are available in cheaper rates than the other models.

Answer:

Hot air is heavier and goes up whether in the atmosphere or a refrigerator. Freezer is fixed at the top of the refrigerator to cool the hotter air coming up. Once cooled the air will goes down and the hotter air will come up. This is a continuous cycle inside a refrigerator.
