Answer:

Freezing involves the conversion of liquid into solid.

Explanation:

The are three states of a any material on the planet/matter:

  • Solid
  • Solid Liquid
  • Solid LiquidGas

1. Solid -

  • The atoms/molecules of a solid matter have the least kinetic energy.
  • Therefore the particles (atoms/molecules) of a solid material are tightly packed closed to each other.
  • Has a fixed shape and fixed volume.

2. Liquid -

  • The atoms/molecules of a liquid matter have more kinetic energy solid particles.
  • Therefore the particles (atoms/molecules) of a liquids are loosely packed and can move freely.
  • Has a fixed volume but no fixed shape.

3. Gas -

  • The atoms/molecules of a gaseous matter have the most kinetic energy.
  • Therefore the particles (atoms/molecules) of gases move far away from each other.
  • Has a no fixed shape and no fixed volume.

When the particles of liquids lose their kinetic energy due to loss of heat (cooling). The liquid particles comes and settle close to each other and gets tight packed. This process is called freezing.

Therefore,

Freezing involves the conversion of liquid into solid.

Sometimes, gaseous matter are also condensed and freezed into solids.
