friction is the force that works against any action. say a ball is moving on the ground, it is friction that work against the direction of the ball which helps it to roll farther. so it is a evil that work against our actions but its necessary in order to complete them.

Without friction you couldn't tie knots they would just come undone. The tires on your car would just spin around and the car wouldn't move. You wouldn't be able to walk in fact you wouldn't be able to even stand. It's like being on really slippery ice. You'd just be on your but all the time, but you wouldn't just sit there you would slide on floor and ground accelerating as you did to a location that is lower in elevation, and you would be trapped there along with others near you. You wouldn't be able to grasp objects they would just slip out of your hand. So that explains the necessary part.

The evil part I suppose would be because friction causes energy loss by the creation of heat, much of which is not available to do work even when an attempt is made to retrieve that energy and to utilize it.
