On the other hand, it also wastes the time and energy, brings about wear and tear and slows down the motion. Thus, we can say that friction is a necessary evil.Friction is ofcourse a necessary evil as most of the cases it is observed that friction does really plays a crucial role though it opposes the relative motion.
