Friction helps us in our daily life

ex:- Walking, Playing,etc.

so it is necessary.

Friction also destroys our materials.

ex:- wearing out of tyres(of vehicles),wearing out of sole of shoes, etc.

so friction is evil.

These are the two reasons why we call Friction a Necessary Evil.
