Ur question :- Friction is a force which ........... Relative Motion .
answer is " Opposes "
➡ Friction always OPPOSES relative motion .
Whenever we write the defination of Friction it's a must to write that Friction opposes Relative Motion ,,, In this defination the word ' Relative ' is very important .
Friction is resistive force .
it's SI unit is ' Newton ' .

Hi there!!
Here's your answer
Friction is the force which OPPOSES relative motion between two surfaces.
----------------------------------------------
Friction is type of a contact force, a force caused when two surfaces are in contact, which stops moving things or prevents stationary objects from moving. Friction is caused due to presence of irregularities present on the surface. When the two surfaces with irregularities come in contact with each other, they get caught up, or , interlocked.
This is the reason why friction is caused.
