1) the acidic waste from the nearby factory is the cause of fish dying in the pond.
2) by adding chemicals of basic nature we can neutralize the acidic waste from the factory.

(i) The factory waste contains heavy metals which when enter the body of the fish and harm them. Due to this reason, the fish in the pond were dying.
(ii) Water can be neutralized by setting filter systems, adding chemicals to purify it like chlorine etc.
