case 1 

velocity = v and time = t so displacement = vt 

case 2 (similarly) 

displacement = vt 

net displacement = √(vt)² + (vt)² = √2v²t² = vt√2

total time = 2t

Average velocity = displacement/ total time =  vt√2/2t = v/√2

(option) 4 is correct
