Given :  From a corner of a jewellery shop, Priya moves 6 steps towards north and 8 steps  towards east and reaches diagonally from the corner of the shop. From the same point  Seema moves 8 steps towards east and 6 steps towards north and reaches the same point.

A third person Madhu moves straight towards the point where Priya and Seema meet

To find : a) Write the coordinates of the point at which Priya and Seema meet together.

b)  .Has Madhu travelled less distance?

c) Find the distance covered by Madhu.

Solution:

Priya

                     0, 6     E        8 , 6

                       N

                      0,0

Seema

                                              8 , 6

                                                 N

                      0,0        E          8 , 0

Priya and seema meet together at (8 , 6)

Distance travelled by Priya & seema = 6 + 8  =  8 + 6 = 14   Steps

Distance travelled by  Madhu  = √6² + 8²  = 10  Steps

Distance covered by Madhu = 10 steps

Yes , Madhu covered less distance than seema & priya
