To find : probability that there are more girls than boys

Solution :

Boys = 5

Girls = 3

Total = 8

Number  ways of selecting 3 person  = ⁸C₃  =  56

more girls than boys  Means

2 Girls 1 boy    or   3 girls  No boy

³C₂*⁵C₁ + ³C₃

= 3 * 5  +  1

= 15 + 1

= 16

Probability that there are more girls than boys  = 16/56

= 2/7
