r = 8 cm

● Explanation -

Let O be origin of circle, P be assumed point and R be tangent.

As tangent makes right angle with radius -

OP^2 = OR^2 + PR^2

Here, OP = 17 cm and PR = 15 cm.

17^2 = r^2 + 15^2

r^2 = 289 - 225

r^2 = 64

r = 8 cm

Hence, radius of the circle is 8 cm.
