From a rifle of mass 4 kg, a bullet of mass 50 g is fired with an initial velocity of 300 m/s. Calculate the final recoil velocity of the rifle.

Given:-

•Mass of bullet(m)=50g

=>50/1000

=>0.05kg

•Mass of rifle(M)=4kg

•Initial velocity of bullet(v)=300m/s

To find:-

•Recoil velocity of the rifle(V)

Solution:-

By applying Law of Conservation of momentum we get:-

=>M×(-V)+mv=0

=>V=mv/M

=>V=300×0.05/4

=>V=15/4

=>V=3.75m/s

Thus,final recoil velocity of the rifle is 3.75m/s
