From a rifle of mass 4 kg ,a bullet of ss 50 g is fired with an initial velocity of 35 m s-1 .calculate the initial recoil velocity of SOLUTION
M1 =4 kg
M2=50gram =5÷1000=0.05kg
U1=0
U2=0
V1=?
V2=35m/s
by applying law of conservation of momentum
M1U1+M2U2=M1V1+M2V2
4×0+0.05×0=4×V1+0.05×35
0=4V1+0.05×35
V1=0.05×35÷4
V1=-0.4375 m/s
