From a rope 4 m long, two pieces of lengths 1/4 m and 1/2 m are cut off. What is the length of the remaining rope?

Answer:

4m - 1/2m - 1/4m

= 7/2m - 1/4m

= LCM of 2 and 4 = 4

= 7/2 = 14/4

= 14/4 - 1/4

= 13/4

3 \frac{1}{4}
