Let the fare from Delhi to A be x

and Delhi to B be y.

According to question ;

2x + 3y = 77 ..........................(1) &

3x + 5y = 124 .........................(2)

Now , doing (2)×2 - (1) ×3, we get

6x + 10y = 248
6x + 9y = 231
- - -.
____________
y = 17

So, x = {77 - 3(17)}/2 = (77-51)/2 = 26/2 = 13

So, fare from Delhi to A is rs 13

fare from Delhi to B is rs 17.

Answer:

Given:

From Delhi station if we buy 2 tickets for station A and 3 tickets for station B the total cost 77.but if we buy 3 tickets for station A and 5 tickets for station B the total cost is 124.

To Find:

We need to find the fares from Delhi station A to B.

Solution:

Let us assume that the fare from Delhi to station A is Rs x and fare from Delhi to station B is Rs y.

According to the question we have,

2x + 3y = 77________(1)

3x + 5y = 124_______(2)

Now, multiplying (2) × 2 - (1) × 3 we get,

6x + 10y = 248______(3)

6x + 9y = 231_______(4)

Now, subtracting equation 4 from equation 3 we get y = 17.

Now, as y = 17, so x = {77- 3(17)/2}

=> x = (77 - 51/2)

=> x = 26/2

=> x = 13

Therefore the fare from Delhi to station A is Rs 13 and fare from Delhi to station B is Rs 17.
