Given : Velocity Time Graph

To Find : Distance traveled in 5 sec

Solution:

Distance = velocity x time

Area under curve  will be Distance

0 to 1 sec

Trapezium

Area =(1/2)  ( 20 + 10 ) * (1-0) = 15 m

1 to 2 sec

rectangle

Area = = 10 x (2  - 1)  = 10 m

2 to 3 sec

Triangle

Area = (1/2) * 10 ( 3 - 2)  = 5 m

3 to 5 sec

triangle   ( opposite direction )

Area = (1/2)(20 )(5 - 3)  = 20 m  ( Distance is always + ve )

Displacement would have been - 20  ( here )

Total Distance covered = 15 + 10 + 5 + 20  =   50 m

option C is correct

Displacement would have been 15 + 10 + 5 - 20  = 10 m
