Earth's magnetic lines of force

Explanation:

The lines of magnetic force flow into Earth in the northern hemisphere and out of Earth in the southern hemisphere. At the North and South Poles, the force is vertical. Anywhere on the equator the force is horizontal, and everywhere in between, the magnetic force is at some intermediate angle to the surface.

Please refer to the attached picture for a diagrammatic representation of the magnetic lines of force.

The magnetic lines ot force of earth emerge from center of the earth . The upper arrows shows us the northern and lower arrows shows the southern poles.

Explanation:

  • Earth's geographic poles indicate points where the points rotational axis incepts the surface of the earth. The person standing near equator is moving fastest due to earth rotation.
  • The magnetic lines start and end at the earth's equator. The earth's magnetic and geographic poles are not exactly aligned as they are of different mechanisms.
  • Thus the direction of the magnetic field of the earth is stating in the north and ending in the south. That is an inverse or opposite direction of motion. The geographic south pole is magnetic north and vice versa.
