SOLUTION :

The correct option is (d) : ½

Given : A letter is selected from the word ‘MOBILE’

Number of letter in the word ‘MOBILE’ = 6

Total number of outcomes = 6

Let E = Event of getting a letter which is a vowel

Vowels in the word ‘MOBILE’ = 'O’ , 'E’, 'I’

Number of vowels in the word ‘MOBILE’ = 3

Number of favourable outcomes to E = 3

Probability P(E) = Number of favourable outcomes / total number of outcomes

P(E) = 3/6  = 1/2

Hence, the probability of getting a letter which is a vowel , P(E)= 1/2  .
