Step-by-step explanation:

for 1st km the fare is x

for each km the fare is y

we take common difference (d)= y

fare for 10km=₹40

fare for 16km=₹58

in A.P

10th term=x+9y__equation1

16th term=x+15y__equation

subtract equation 1 and 2

x+9y=40

x+15y=58

0-6y = -18

y= -6y/-18y

y=3

substitute y value in equation 1

x+9y=40

x+9(3)=40

x=40-27

x=13 .

. . fare for first km =₹13
