SOLUTION

TO DETERMINE

From the sum of (a + 5b) and ( - 4a - b) subtract (a - b)

EVALUATION

Here we have to first find the sum of (a + 5b) and ( - 4a - b)

The sum of (a + 5b) and ( - 4a - b)

= (a + 5b) + ( - 4a - b)

= a - 4a + 5b - b

= - 3a + 4b

Hence the required result

= ( - 3a + 4b ) - (a - b)

= - 3a - a + 4b + b

= - 4a + 5b
