From where do we get sound effects in dreams?

In the dreams one can experience listening to music, which in reality is not played, can hear sounds, which otherwise are not audible and can even smell fragrances, which are not there either. ... According to C. Sanders, we don't hear any sound during dream, but we know what sound would be heard if the dream was real.
