Heya friend !
Shurpanakha , the wicked sister of the demon king raavana , was originally named Meenakshi ie . one who is a possessor of fish - shaped eyes.
However , in Sanskrit the meaning of her name implies -one with long sharp nails !!
Shurpanakha was infamed for having a cut nose ,which occurred as a result of Lakshmana , the younger brother of lord Rama . So ,although originally her name was associated with fish-shaped eyes but till date , history remembers her for having a cut nose ...!
Knowingly or unknowingly , her name has now been attached to "nose "..!!
Hope that helps !
