The respiratory system includes the nose, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi and lungs.

The functions are:

1) NOSE: - The function of the nasal cavity is to warm, moisturize, and filter air entering the body before it reaches the lungs.

2) PHARYNX: The pharynx's respiratory role is mainly to allow inhaled air entering the nasal cavity to make its way to the respiratory tract – which includes the larynx, the trachea or “windpipe” and finally the lungs' bronchioles and alveoli where respiration takes place.

3) LARYNX: The larynx is a tough, flexible segment of the respiratory tract connecting the pharynx to the trachea in the neck. It plays a vital role in the respiratory tract by allowing air to pass through it while keeping food and drink from blocking the airway.

4) TRACHEA: The trachea (or windpipe) is a wide, hollow tube that connects the larynx (or voice box) to the bronchi of the lungs. It is an integral part of the body's airway and has the vital function of providing air flow to and from the lungs for respiration

5) BRONCHI: The bronchi, singularly known as a bronchus, are extensions of the windpipe that shuttle air to and from the lungs. Think of them as highways for gas exchange, with oxygen going to the lungs and carbon dioxide leaving the lungs through them. They are part of the conducting zone of the respiratory system.

6) LUNGS: The primary organs of the respiratory system are the lungs, which carry out this exchange of gases as we breathe. The lungs work with the circulatory system to pump oxygen-rich blood to all cells in the body.

  6. Lungs=The lungs, which perform this exchange of gases while we breathe, are the main respiratory system organs. All of the body's cells are supplied with oxygen-rich blood by the circulatory system and the lungs.
