Hey friend,
Here is your answer..
Hemodialysis is the process where the artificial kidney is attached in case of kidney failure. The function of the artificial kidney is as follows :-
Artificial kidney contains a number of tubes with semi-permeable lining, suspended in a tank filled with dialysing liquid.
The fluid has same osmotic pressure as blood, except that it is devoid of nitrogenous wastes.
The patient's blood is passed through these tubes and during this passage, the waste products from the blood is pass into the dialysing fluid by diffusion as I already told you that the tubes have semi-permeable lining. Then after the blood gets purified and the purified blood is pumped back into the patient.
this is similar to the function of kidney but this artificial kidney has a disadvantage which is - there will no be any reabsorption taking place, so, the useful material needed by the body is also passes out with the nitrogeneous waste.
Hope this helps....
