Functions Of Parenchyma

➜ You might have felt the softness of flowers and certain leaves. This is due to the presence of parenchyma. It is found in soft parts of the plant like root, stem, leaf.

➜ The cells of parenchyma tissue are composed of thin walled living cells .

➜ They are least specialised out of all the simple tissues. The parenchyma cells vary in shape like round, elongated, polygonal or irregular.

➜ Generally cells are loosely arranged and contain large amount of food materials since they perform storage functions.

➜ If parenchyma contain chloroplasts it is called chlorenchyma and it takes part in photosynthesis.
