Fused calcium chloride is deliquescent in nature , absorbs moisture and hence used as a desiccating or drying agent that is used in a desiccator .

Conc. sulphuric acid being hygroscopic in nature acts as a drying agent as well as a dehydrating agent and hence is used i a desiccator.
