Gandhiji was a preacher of non violence.
Soon after the violent movement that took place in Chauri Chaura he called off the movement because he was deeply hurt and felt that people of India were still not ready for the non violent movement.
He felt that incidents like chauri chaura could be repeated again and the government could easily suppress the movement.
This was a right step taken by Gandhiji as he strictly followed the path of Ahimsa.
