Solution:

1) Let the present age of Gauri's son is x years

then the age of Gauri is (25+x)years

as per the condition of the question:

• x(25+x) = 600

• x²+25x-600 = 0

• x²+40x-15x-600

• x(x+40)-15(x+40)=0

• (x-15)(x+40)=0

we get

x= 15 and -40  ( we neglect the -40 because the age can never be negative)

2) So,

• the age of the Gauri's son is 15 years

• Age of gauri is 25+15 = 40 Years.

• The age of Gauri's husband = 40+5 = 45 years.

The age of Gauri= 40 years, Gauri's son = 15 years, and Gauri's husband= 45 years.
