let the present age of bridget be x

so, present age of david = x+4

present age of gavin =  x+4+5 = x+9

so, bridget is the youngest of them

now, sum of their ages is 61

so, x + x+4 + x+9 = 61

3x + 13 = 61

3x = 61-13

3x = 48

x = 48/3

x = 16

so, the age of the youngest of them [ bridget ] is 16 years
