Generally soild sinks in water but ice floats why

It is because ice density is lower than water so it flows on water and most of the solids have higher densities than water so they sinks........

Usually solid substance have higher density as comparison to water......but in case of ice,ice have too many minute hole inside them which is filled with air ......as we know that water have higher density than air,so that's why ice floats on water
