Genetic engineering of microbe refers to introduction of foreign genetic material into microbe, bacteria in this question.

Among the given options, insulin is the hormone which has been produced in bacteria. Insulin is the hormone which plays role in uptake of glucose.

It is an important hormone as it's loss results in diabetes mellitus. Since patients can not produce insulin, latter has been produced in bacteria and artificially introduced into humans.
