4x+3y=36----equ(1)

3x+4y=34----equ(2)

by solving these two equations

x=6 and y=4

so total time is 10hours.

Solution 2:

x/4=t1 36-x/3=t2;

3*x/4 + 4*(36-x)/3=34

solving 2nd equation

we get x=24

Putting in the above situation we get t1=6 and t2=4 so time os 6+4= 10 hrs
