The cottage in woods People often say " There is no such thing as ghost....................". But this story will surely make you believe in ghosts. Elizabeth and Jane were sisters and this summer vacation of theirs was to be spend at their grandmother's house. They had expected much fun at the countryside farmhouse, but reality was opposite. They were just getting bored staring at their parents and grandparents work. Jane and Elizabeth decided to explore the place. They walked for a few minutes when Jane gave an idea " Lizzy ! why don't we go into the woods?" Elizabeth found the idea exciting. So both of them together started towards the woods. They had walked a little less than a mile, when they came across an old cottage.It seemed abandoned. The cottage was fully ruined, roof torn down, window panes detached, glasses broken......... The girls decided to go into the house. They saw cushions with fillings fallen off and a dining table, which was set for dinner. the chairs of the table fallen around the room. It seemed as if someone was eating and they left in a hurry. The room was full of dust. 

The girls were scared, but curiosity led them to the stairways. They stopped, looked at each other and then decide to go up.b They went up and saw a corridor leading to two rooms. They opened the first one and saw that it was completely ruined, with all kinds of insects and bugs. They closed the room immediately and went to the next one. They saw a shocking view. The room was so clean that it didn't seem to be in such a shabby cottage. It looked like a child's room. With a small bed, a rocking horse, a rocking horse was moving back and forth as if someone had just now been on it. They found three letters. The first one e girls went on to open the trunk. In the trunk they found three letters

The first one was written from a soldier to his wife. It read that he may not come back from the war and that he will have to give his life for the country. The second one was a reply to the first one which was written by his wife saying that their child was seriously ill with pneumonia, and she didn't have the money to go to any doctor. The third letter was addressed to the soldier saying that his son died due to pneumonia and that his wife committed suicide. The girls were shocked and then suddenly they heard a song a lullaby and the rocking chair started rocking back and forth. The girls left the letters in the trunk as it was and ran down the house. When they were out of the house and going back into the woods, Jane turned back and saw a blonde boy staring at them in the window of the child's room. They reached back home and told their father about this. Their father told them that a soldier, his wife and their son lived in that house and after the soldier came back from war and came to know that his wife and son were dead, he burned down the cottage. And that there was no such house in the woods now!!!
