★ Given:

Gita wants to fix decorative tape around 3 charts.

The dimensions of the chart is 60cm x 35 cm.

Cost of the tape is Rs. 8 per cm.

★ To Find:

The total cost of the tape.

★ Analysis

The total amount of tape required for one chart is the perimeter of the chart. Multiplying that value to the total no. of charts, we will get the total amount of tape required. The cost of 1 cm tape is given. When we multiply that value with the the total amount of tape, we will get the final answer.

★ Solution:

Length of the chart = 60 cm

Breadth of the chart = 35 cm

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2 (l + b)

= 2 (60 + 35)

= 2 x 95

= 190 cm

So, the total amount of tape required for one chart = 190 cm.

No. of charts present = 3

So, total amount of tape present for all the 3 charts = 190 x 3

= 570 cm

Cost of 1 cm tape = Rs. 8

Total cost of 570 cm tape = 570 x 8

Rs 4560

Hence the total cost of the tape required is Rs 4560.

★ Formulae Used:

Perimeter of rectangle = 2 (l + b)
