Applications of Surface tension :-
1) Spherical shape of liquid drops --
Due to surface tension the liquid surface minimises the surface area.Due to minimized surface area of particular volume of liquid, the drops are Spherical.
2) Capillary action :-
If a capillary tube is dipped in a liquid , then that liquid rises upto a certain height in that tube. This is known as capillary action. This happens due to inward pull acting on the surface that pushes the liquid molecules into the tube.
3) Insects can walk on the surface of water :-
The insects can walk on the surface of water due to surface tension. The water behaves as an elastic membrane giving the insects a position to walk.

Applications of Surface Tension...
1) Walking of insects on water... Small insects can easily walk on water because their weight is not enough to penetrate the surface of liquid or water....
2) Rounding of bubbles... The surface tension of water provides the necessary wall tension for the formation of bubbles with respect to water....
3) Floating of needle in water... Though needle is many times as dense as water. A small needle can be float on the surface of water if carefully placed on water...
