Plant and animal cells have several differences and similarities. For example, animal cells do not have a cell wall or chloroplasts but plant cells do. Animal cells are mostly round and irregular in shape while plant cells have fixed, rectangular shapes.

Plant cell :

Rigid Cell wall is present .

Plastids like chloroplast , chromoplasts and leukoplasts are present .

Plant cells are mostly polygonal .

They have large vacuole for storage purpose .

Centrosomes are absent but two small clear areas called polar caps are present which carry cell division .

Plasmodesmata (cytoplasmic strand that passes through adjacent cell membrane) is present.

Animal cells :

Cell membrane is not guarded by cell wall .

Plastids are absent .

They are mostly amoeboid or circular .

Vacuole is either absent or is very small .

Centrosomes is present with one or two centrioles for cell division .

Plasmodesmata is absent .
