Once the author Mriganko Babu’s car ran out of fuel. When his driver Sudheer went to bring some petrol, he stepped out and observed his surroundings. Suddenly, he saw a scarecrow in the middle of a barren field wearing a very familiar torn shirt.
As he was trying to recollect, he heard a familiar voice call him. Mriganko Babu immediately recognized it to be his earlier servant Abhiram’s voice. Abhiram was dismissed from service when the author’s gold watch was supposed to have been stolen by him. The author now remembered that the scarecrow’s shirt was the same that he had once bought Abhiram. Abhiram came to Babu and told him where the watch was and to look for it there. After this revelation, the ex-servant left the place.
Unexpectedly, Mriganko Babu heard his driver call him. It was then that he realized that all that he had witnessed was a dream when he slept while thinking of a story plot. He gave one final look at the scarecrow perched on a wooden bamboo pole at a distance. At home, the author immediately checked the place where Abhiram told him. It was very much there and Mriganko Babu began to feel guilty of not being a good human being.
