The synthesis of food in green plants take place through the process of photosynthesis. The plant absorbs water through it's roots, catches sunlight using the green pigment chlorophyll present in it's leaves and uses carbon dioxide present in the air to produce glucose and oxygen as by products. The glucose so produced is the energy or 'food' of the plant.
