Give a character sketch of Mr. Hamel

M. Hamel was a true French man. He was teaching at school of Alsace for forty years. He was totally  an honest teacher. Instead of blaming his students for the poor learning he also blamed himself for their conditions. He was a true country man who devotes himself to his mother tongue .For  him the French language was the most beautiful, language in the world. He pleaded to his countrymen to guard it and never forget it. He had a immense attachment to the school and  his students. However, he was very brave and strong. He was really in deep guilt for not making the students a true learner.At the end, he became so emotional that he could not speak.
