The poem A Mother in a Refugee Camp portrays the unconditional love of a mother for her child in a refugee camp. Although her son was no more, the mother attended to him just like how she did when he was alive. She had a smile of contentment on her face as she did this.

The mother gave her son a bath and rubbed her palms on his body. Then, she took out a broken comb and combed his hair taking great care to part it. Had the son been alive, the mother would have now done all these actions before he went to school or had his breakfast. However, she did not cease to do her daily actions even after she had lost her son. Thus, the love of the mother for her son remains the same even after his death.
