Valli thoroughly enjoyed the bus ride and the whole journey.

• In the short story 'Madam Rides the Bus', the eight year child Valli takes a much cherished bus ride.  Valli was a little girl who waited patiently  at her doorstep to see the only passenger bus ply by her house every day.

• The bus opened a plethora of imaginations for the small girl as she fantasized what it would be like to travel on that bus.  After some clever planning and tight saving Valli was able to take her much longed for ride.

• The bus was a typical passenger bus loaded with people of all profession.  There were vendors, poultry sellers, general commuters.   Inside the bus the situation was chaotic. There was so much of hustle and bustle.

• It being over-crowded, there was a tremendous noise.  Gallo tried to look out of the bus window. But the canvas covering shut her view. She had to stand and see outside for her short height.  

• But the bus was full of life. The driver honked all through the way and there was so much to observe both inside and outside the bus.  The bus was thus a potpourri of activities.

The bus was new and its outside painted a gleaming white with some green stripes along the sides. Inside the bus, the overhead bars shone like silver. There was a windshield and above, it was a beautiful clock. Finally, the seats were soft and luxurious.
