The Earth is a unique planet in the solar system because it is the only planet that supports existence of life.About two-third of the Earth is covered with water.Therefore ,it is also called a 'Blue Planet'.

The favourable conditions that facilitate life on the Earth are as follows

• Moderate temperature that helps the existence of plant and animal life.
• Blanket of air called atmosphere that surrounds the Earth.
• Ozone layer in the atmosphere, that protects the living things from harmful ultraviolet radiation coming from the Sun.
• Presence of adequate amount of fresh water in rivers, ponds, lakes, etc. favours evolution of life.
• Suitable seasons and weather conditions.
